Trauma-informed
I approach all of my work through a trauma-informed lens. It’s important to me that you feel seen and heard, and I know the ways that all kinds of trauma affect our lives.
Anxiety, OCD, Perfectionism
Do you worry a lot? Do you find that you have to do things yourself in order to have them done right? Are you having panic attacks out of the blue? Do you get stuck in thoughts or do thoughts intrude on your daily life that are upsetting or disturbing? I have experience and training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) which is the preferred treatment for OCD and anxiety.
LGBTQIA Folks
Are you looking for a therapist who has expertise working with LGBTQIA folks? Someone who is affirming of your identity? I know that it isn’t always about identity that brings folks to therapy. It’s so important to have a therapist who gets that. I’ve worked within the LGBTQIA community for my entire career. I have experience and expertise working with folks with issues directly and indirectly related to sexual orientation or gender. I also have a special interest in working with partners of TGNCNB folks.
Shame & Self Worth
Do you sometimes feel unworthy of love and connection? Do you have a longing to be part of things, but feel you aren’t good enough? Shame is the feeling that you are wrong or broken or not good enough. I have experience helping clients discover and practice kindness to themselves. Shame and diminished self worth can silence us. I can help you find your voice AND learn to use it!
Grief & Loss
Are you having a hard time with the death of a beloved friend or family member? Or the loss of a relationship, job, or other significant experience in your life? Do you feel that the people around you don’t understand or relate? Are friends encouraging you to get a new pet when you aren’t ready? Do others express surprise that you haven’t “gotten over” your loss?
There isn’t a wrong way to grieve. Grief isn’t a linear process, it changes you. You aren’t alone. Whether your loss was recent or ten plus years ago, I can help.
